The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And children present [with him] 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he thought; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
