He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
