He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man therefore consider the sources of his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
