A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeemSaad. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you by your Lord, and do not follow any other lord apart from Him. Yet little do you care to remember. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 No cry did they utter when Our Torment came upon them but this: "Verily, we were Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)". 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. 7 And the weighing will be just on that Day. Then those whose (deeds) are heavier in the balance will find fulfilment, 8 And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
