The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of those who establish proper ranks. 1 And those who restrain by reprimanding, 2 And those who recite the Reminder, 3 surely, your God is One, 4 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, and the Sustainer of all the points of sunrise! 5 Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, 6 and to preserve against every rebel Satan; 7 [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side, 8 and are repelled. Theirs is an unceasing chastisement. 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. 10 Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay. 11 No, you marvel, while they scoff. 12 And when they are reminded, they pay no attention. 13 And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, 14 And they say: This is nothing but clear magic: 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 17 Say: "Yea, indeed - and most abject will you then be!" 18 It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing. 19 They will then say: “Woe for us. This is the Day of Judgement.” 20 This is the Day of Judgment which ye were wont to belie. 21
