Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
