The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
