The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
