The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the breath of morning 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
