The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
