Al-Takaathur

Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Greed for more and more distracted you [from God] 1 Until ye visit the graves. 2 Nay, but ye will come to know! 3 Again, ye soon shall know! 4 Nay, if you could but understand [it] with an understanding [born] of certainty, 5 For ye will behold hell-fire. 6 Then ye shall surely behold with the surety of vision. 7 Then, on that Day, ye shall surely be asked of the delights. 8

True are the words of God the Almighty.
