The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
