The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
