The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
