The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
