The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
