The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
