The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
