The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
