Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 Then those clouds bearing the load (of minute things in space). 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
