Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning to mortals, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
