The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 The infidels, of which there is no averter. 2 From Allah, Lord of the Ascending Stairways 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience; 5 They surely take it to be far away, 6 but We see it is nigh. 7 Upon the day when heaven shall be as molten copper 8 and the mountains will become like dyed tufts of wool, 9 And friend shall not ask of friend 10 though they may be in one another's sight: [for,] everyone who was lost in sin will on that Day but desire to ransom himself from suffering at the price of his own children, 11 And his spouse and his brother. 12 And his kindred who sheltered him, 13 And all who are on the earth; so that this might deliver him. 14 Never! That is indeed a blazing fire. 15 tearing away his skin! 16 It calls out to him who reverted and turned away. 17 and amassed wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 Fretful when evil befalleth him 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 except those who are steadfast 22 and continue at their prayers, 23 And those in whose riches is a known right. 24 for the needy and the deprived, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgment, 26 And those who fear the punishment of their Lord. 27 for none may ever feel secure from the punishment of their Lord; 28 And those who guard their private parts, 29 Are free of blame, 30 whereas such as seek to go beyond that [limit] are truly transgressors; 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 And those who are upright in their testimonies, 33 And those who guard (the sacredness) of their worship;- 34 Those are highly honored in the Gardens. 35
