Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Kaf. Ha'. Ya'. Ayn. Sad. 1 The mention of thy Lord's mercy unto His servant Zachariah; 2 when he called upon his Lord secretly 3 And said: "O my Lord, my bones decay, my head is white and hoary, yet in calling You, O Lord, I have never been deprived. 4 And surely I fear my cousins after me, and my wife is barren, therefore grant me from Thyself an heir, 5 who shall be my inheritor and the inheritor of the House of Jacob; and make him, my Lord, well-pleasing.' 6 We answered his prayers with the glad news of the birth of a son by the name of John and told him, "We have never given such a name to anyone else." 7 He submitted, “My Lord – how can I have a son whereas my wife is barren and I have reached infirmity due to old age?” 8 He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me, even as I created thee before, when thou wast naught. 9 He said, 'Lord, appoint to me some sign.' Said He, 'Thy sign is that thou shall not speak to men, though being without fault, three nights.' 10 So he went forth to his people from his place of worship, then he made known to them that they should glorify (Allah) morning and evening. 11 O Yahya! take hold of the Book with strength, and We granted him wisdom while yet a child 12 And piety (for all creatures) as from Us, and purity: He was devout, 13 kind to his parents, not arrogant or a rebellious person. 14 So peace on him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day that he will be raised from the dead. 15
