Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
