HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 “Therefore approach Firaun then proclaim, ‘We both are Noble Messengers of the Lord Of The Creation.’ 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 (The Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up as a child? And you lived a number of years of your life with us. 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
