۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
