The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
