The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 Created man, 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
