The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 near to flowing water 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
