The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
