The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
