And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
