The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
