And We did not send a prophet in a town but We overtook its people with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. 94 Then We changed the misfortune into prosperity to the extent that they became numerous and said, “Indeed grief and comfort did reach our ancestors” – so We seized them suddenly in their neglect. 95 Had the people of those towns believed in and feared God, We would have showered upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they rejected the truth. So We seized them on account of their misdeeds. 96 Did the people of the towns think themselves secure from Our wrath that could strike them at night during their sleep 97 Or are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them in the daytime while they play? 98 Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people. 99
