Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
