Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when it departs, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 running away from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
