The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Recompense fitted! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
