He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
