He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for him who comes to you striving after goodness, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honoured leaves 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
