In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
