And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 till the appointed time. 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
