The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
