The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
