The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
