Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
