And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
