Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 separating one from another, 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 to excuse some and warn others: 6 Surely what you are promised shall come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 And when the heaven is cloven asunder. 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the time comes for raising the little girls (buried alive) -- 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 for an appointed time? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 as black camels. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
