The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
