The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
