The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
